Puente de la Constitución 2026: the December long weekend in Spain

In 2026 Constitution Day (6 Dec) falls on a Sunday and the Immaculate Conception (8 Dec) on a Tuesday. In 10 regions the BOE list also shows Monday 7 Dec as a public holiday, so people who work Monday to Friday there get Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 off. Everything below comes from the official pages listed under Sources, checked on 22 October 2026.

The three dates

Where Monday 7 Dec is a public holiday

Source: the BOE resolution of 17 Oct 2025 (BOE-A-2025-21667), built from the lists that all 17 autonomous communities, Ceuta and Melilla sent to the Ministry of Labour. It marks 7 Dec as a holiday in these 10:

Where the BOE list shows no 7 Dec holiday

These 9 have no 7 Dec entry in the same BOE list: Illes Balears, Canarias, Castilla-La Mancha, Cataluña, Galicia, Comunidad Foral de Navarra, País Vasco, Comunitat Valenciana and Ciudad de Ceuta. Tuesday 8 Dec is still a holiday there. Whether you get Monday off anyway depends on your employer, so check your contract and your region's calendar. Each municipality can also have up to two local holidays, published in the regional or provincial bulletin (BOE-A-2025-21667, fundamentos de derecho, cuarto): check your town's calendar.

Portugal: 1 and 8 December

Law 8/2016 (Diário da República, 1 April 2016) changed art. 234(1) of the Código do Trabalho so that the mandatory holidays include 1, 8 and 25 December; its art. 1 names 1 December as the Restauração da Independência. In 2026 both 1 Dec and 8 Dec are Tuesdays. We checked this law as published; later amendments to the Code were not checked, and the law does not name 8 Dec.
