What's closed at Easter 2027, 25-29 March: public holidays by country

Short answer, checked on 27 October 2026: Easter Sunday 2027 is 28 March, so the long weekend runs Thursday 25 to Monday 29 March. Good Friday (26 Mar) is a holiday in Spain, Portugal, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, in Baden-Württemberg and Bayern in Germany, and in some communes of Alsace-Moselle in France. In the Netherlands it is an official holiday but not a general day off. Easter Monday (29 Mar) is a holiday in France, Italy, Belgium, Ireland, Austria, the Netherlands, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and, in Germany, Baden-Württemberg and Bayern; in Spain only in six regions. Spain also has Jueves Santo on Thu 25 Mar in 17 of 19 regions and cities. We list only what we could read in an official source. "Usually closed" is a general pattern, not a promise: opening depends on the shop, the town and the contract, so check locally. We give no opening hours. Easter dates were computed and checked against Python's calendar.

Not on this page

Switzerland: Good Friday and Easter Monday depend on the canton, and the federal portal page we fetched gave us no readable holiday list, so we list nothing. Germany: we verified only Baden-Württemberg and Bayern; the other 14 states are not covered. Spain: local (town) holidays are not covered. Other countries are not covered because we did not read an official source for them. Portugal: the official gazette page (Diário da República) needs JavaScript and could not be read by our tools, so we read the same article of the Código do Trabalho on the Lisbon regional prosecutor's website. The Irish source lists 2026 dates only, so 29 Mar 2027 is computed. Easter is also a school-holiday period in many places; we did not check school dates.
